We use YouTube a lot, both as viewers and as YouTubers, looking for followings, looking to buy YouTube views and to entertain. But, don’t think you know all about YouTube.

First, did you know that Google bought YouTube in November 2006 for 1,650 million dollars? That’s the cost of 5 Airbus A380 – the largest passenger plane in the world. It’s also the third most visited site in the world. The most popular video is ”Bad Romance” by Lady Gaga. Surprised?

Most of YouTube’s traffic actually originates from outside of the United States, and it has billions of users. Most of them are between 18 and 34 years old. Small children are the smallest portion of users. And guess how many visits YouTube gets every day? Around 2,000 million visits – which is 10% of all internet traffic daily.

Around 900,000 videos are uploaded daily – which is about 10 videos a second – and there are so many videos on YouTube that it would take you 1700 years to see all of them. Well, more, since almost a million are added daily. And it’s not just all fun and games. YouTube is also a lot of legal stuff, with copyright things. It has over 10,000 partners in the entertainment industry – and big ones, too. Like Disney.

It was originally created by a few friends in San Francisco. And the first video uploaded was ”Me at the Zoo” by Jawed Karim – one of the creators.

YouTube has also given way to many other money making ventures – like people that let you buy YouTube views, people looking for publicity for their business, and ads.

That’s probably quite a bit of stuff you didn’t know about YouTube. Or maybe you did, and you’d be the YouTube expert, then.
